A National Cultural Competition

Kite Fest is not merely a festival, it is a deeply rooted cultural competition that honours Bermudian Good Friday traditions whilst creating a platform for innovation and intergenerational connection.

Get Involved

Kite Fest 2026 invites the entire Bermudian community to participate in this renewed national tradition. Whether you represent a school, a company, or simply wish to honour our cultural heritage through kite making, there are multiple ways to contribute to this meaningful event.
This national competition brings together schools, businesses, and community members in celebration of one of Bermuda’s most cherished traditions. Each year on Good Friday, the skies above our island have filled with handmade kites—symbols of craftsmanship, creativity, and cultural pride.

Kite Fest 2026 marks the beginning of an annual tradition designed to elevate this cultural practice, engage our youth, and unite our community. Through structured competition divisions and meaningful recognition, we aim to preserve traditional kite-making techniques whilst encouraging contemporary design and engineering excellence.

This is a community-first initiative—culturally respectful, professionally organised, and focused on building a legacy that honours our past whilst inspiring our future generations.

Event Day Experience

Whilst the competition forms the heart of Kite Fest 2026, Good Friday at Horseshoe Bay offers a rich cultural experience for the entire community. The day unfolds as a celebration of Bermudian heritage, bringing together families, friends, and neighbours in an atmosphere of shared tradition.

Beyond the competitive kite flying, attendees can engage with traditional Bermudian games that have been enjoyed for generations. Chess tables, marble competitions, and dominoes stations create spaces for intergenerational connection and friendly rivalry.

These activities honour the slower, more intentional pace of Good Friday—a day for reflection, community, and cultural participation.
The event maintains a family-friendly atmosphere throughout, with the spectacular natural beauty of Horseshoe Bay providing an unforgettable backdrop.

The pink sand beaches and turquoise waters frame the vibrant kites against Bermuda’s signature blue sky, creating moments of pure cultural celebration that will be remembered long after the competition concludes.
